I have often heard the school year compared to a roller coaster:
once it begins, it takes you on a journey of ups and downs, twists and turns, until it concludes in December. In the busy first three weeks of the second term, I find this analogy particularly fitting.
I would like to extend my gratitude to all the parents who have taken the time to connect with our staff during the recent parent-teacher meetings. Through my discussions with both staff and parents, I have sensed that these interactions have been productive, with a general consensus that our community is pleased with the improvements and the direction in which our school is heading. I also wish to acknowledge the dedication, commitment, and exceptional efforts of our staff in striving for positive outcomes for our students.
On Wednesday 15 May, we had the pleasure of hosting our inaugural Year 9/10 Pathways evening. The event was well-attended, and both students and parents had the opportunity to hear from our Head of Teaching and Learning, Ms Susan Vale, as well as from myself and leadership members from Calvin Christian School, Mrs Bonny Moroni and Mrs Carly Brouwer. Our school is committed to meeting students where they are and providing opportunities to help them fulfill the purpose that has been set before them.
This coming week, on Thursday 23 May, the Secondary school will host our Discover Emmanuel Secondary evening. Prospective parents and students in Years Five and Six will have the opportunity to hear from our leadership team and a student-led question-and-answer session. Additionally, guests can attend breakout sessions to learn more about each of the learning areas within the Secondary school. Further information is available here.
Finally, in week five, we will be holding our Secondary camps. Our Year 7 and 8 students will attend Spring Beach Youth Camp from Monday 27 May to Wednesday 29 May, while the Year 9 and 10 students will attend from Wednesday 29 May to Friday 31 May.
