From the Principal

Welcome, families, to Term 3. I am sure it will be another term full of rich learning and opportunities for growth.

I trust our students and staff had a rejuvenating holiday period and are feeling energised for the final and busy semester. Speaking of busyness, this term we are hosting a range of events in which planning has been occurring since the beginning of the year, most notably our ECON’26 event in Week 9. I am very much looking forward to this event given it will be my first but more importantly, to celebrate and recognise the diversity of nations represented by our student cohort.

The level of organisation and planning for this event is significant and I thank all members involved for their efforts.

Also, late in Term 3 we have our Whole School Athletics Carnival. Pending weather, this will happen in the final week, with back up plans in place should the weather be unkind. These days are always so much fun and a great opportunity for our students to cheer each other on and to participate in track and field events. 

Our teaching staff recently attended the CEN State Conference in Launceston over the Professional Learning days at the beginning of this week. This was a fantastic chance to hear from some keynote speakers and to network with our fellow Christian teaching staff from across Tasmania.

My key takeaway from this event was to focus on being present and still in God's Word, to ensure we always have Jesus as the centre of all that we do. To praise Him, worship Him, and focus on how we can be good shepherds for Him in educating our students in His Word.

Census Data Collection

Secondary Update –
LOTE

During Term 2, students in Years 7 and 8 created colourful ‘My Pet’ posters, introducing their pets in Mandarin by describing their names, ages, and colours. They also practised writing key Chinese characters to strengthen their literacy skills. Year 7 students proudly designed personalised Chinese name cards, helping them build a stronger connection with the language. Students also explored Chinese Checkers (tiào qí – 跳棋), developing strategic thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork while practising Mandarin vocabulary in a fun and interactive environment.

Meanwhile, our Year 9 students learned how to tell the time in Mandarin through practical activities and games. They especially enjoyed ‘Mr Wolf, Mr Wolf, What Time Is It?’ (Lǎo láng, lǎo láng, jǐ diǎn le? – 老狼，老狼，几点了？), which helped them practise asking and answering time-related questions while developing their listening and speaking skills. Students then created ‘My Day’ posters to describe their daily routines using accurate time expressions.

Our Year 10 students combined creativity and language skills by designing ‘My Dream House’ posters and confidently presented their ideas in Mandarin. This project encouraged students to expand their vocabulary and develop their presentation skills.

Primary Update – Kindergarten

The Importance of Movement in Kindergarten

In Kindergarten, movement is much more than just play, it is an essential part of children's learning and development. Young children need opportunities to run, jump, skip, climb, swing, balance, throw, catch, and explore their environment every day. These activities help build strong muscles, improve coordination and develop balance, all of which are important foundations for future learning.

As children strengthen their bodies, they also develop the core stability and shoulder strength needed for fine motor tasks such as drawing, cutting, and handwriting. Active play also supports spatial awareness, concentration, and confidence, helping children become ready for the more structured learning experiences they will encounter in later years.

Even something as simple as climbing on playground equipment or catching a ball contributes to developing the physical endurance children need to sit comfortably at a desk, maintain good posture, and stay focused during classroom activities.

At Kindergarten, we value movement as an important part of every child's learning journey because active bodies support active minds.
