Secondary Update - Science

In Science, students have been diving into the fascinating world of genetics through a fun and hands-on activity known as the ‘Vegetable People Practical’.

As part of their learning about inheritance, students used gene cards to determine the genotype of their vegetable character, and then worked out the phenotype based on dominant and recessive traits. Each vegetable person was unique—some had long celery arms, others had sweet potato feet or corn eyes!

Students engaged in assembling their characters using real vegetables, applying key genetics vocabulary like homozygous and heterozygous along the way. To extend their learning, many even designed a partner for their original character with different traits, exploring possible offspring combinations. The veggie characters were proudly displayed, sparking lots of laughter and learning.

Primary Update - Year 2

This term has been a fantastic journey of discovery, creativity, and hands-on learning in Year 2!

From exploring the fascinating world of sound in science, to stepping back in time to learn about olden-day technology, curiosity has been at the heart of everything we have done.

One of the highlights was our Zentangle art project. The students loved watching their swirls and patterns take shape, creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind ‘gardens’ where every line was perfect in its own unique way. The joy and confidence this project sparked in them were truly special!

It has been incredible to see their excitement and engagement grow as they have experimented, created, and learned together. With the term coming to an end, we cannot wait for even more hands-on learning adventures ahead! Year 2 is full of eager minds, and the best is yet to come!
