From the Principal

Thank you families for an amazing start to 2026 and for the very warm welcome I have felt through my many conversations with you all.

It is sometimes a challenge starting at a new school (and a new state for me) but I can honestly say that I feel right at home here at Emmanuel. This has been an amazing week where the students have been settled, staff are enthusiastic and there is so much love and joy in the air. I have been visiting classes this week to check in on our new students and to see so many students engaged and connected in their learning is really heart warming.

God has been hard at work this week helping guide us all through the challenges of the first week. I know through His guidance and loving hand, we have collaborated and communicated together to ensure our students (and each other) had a great start to the year.

The end of the week culminated in our Bible and Blazer Ceremony, which was a beautiful event to mark this milestone in our Year 7 students' lives. I want to thank all the families who took the time to come and see their student be presented with their bible and blazer. I also thoroughly enjoyed the conversations with families afterwards, which helped me get to know you a little better. Please feel free to touch base and connect if you have any questions or simply to say hello and introduce yourself.

Remembrance Honour Roll

Each Remembrance Day, we hold a special Assembly to commemorate all those who have served their country. We have an empty wreath at the front. Students and teachers place a red poppy for those who served and have since died; or a sprig of rosemary for those who served and are still with us. We commemorate all who served, whether in uniform, or in the Resistance, or even part of defence at home; during wars and during times of peace; and from whichever country they were in. What is important is realising that our ancestors spent time defending what they held dear.

I would like to hear from you please. We have an Honour Roll which is an integral part of our service, and the names of your relatives could be on it allowing us to remember their commitment to service of their country.

Please send me:

1. First and last names;

2. Which force did they sign up to: army, navy, airforce, resistance, nursing;

3. When did they serve e.g. Boer War, WWI, Vietnam War, Between the Wars, Peacekeeping.

4. And most importantly of all, what relation are they to your student.

We now have many great, great, great, great-uncles or aunts on our list who served either in the Boer War or WWI.

November is a very busy month and I like to have the Honour Roll completed by the end of Term 3 for the IT Production Team, and this is why I am asking for your help now. I have one Honour Roll that is read out by our students with clues to pronunciations, and the formal Honour Roll which is like a film credit list and plays on the screen.
